In 2024, Ford is continuing to innovate with new and exciting vehicles including their wide variety of capable and convenient SUVs. The 2024 Ford Edge is a perfect example of that versatility. The 2024 Edge is the newest entry part of the 2024 Ford midsize SUV lineup. It’s significantly larger and faster than its cousins, the EcoSport and Escape. Although it isn’t as large as the Explorer and Expedition, the 2024 Edge falls right in the sweet spot of the 2024 Ford SUV lineup.

2024 Ford Edge Overview

The new 2024 Ford Edge has a plethora of exciting features to look at. To start, there are four trim packages that you can get: SE, SEL, Titanium, and ST. Each trim has so many unique features, but simply put the SE is the standard and lowest priced trim, while the Titanium boasts many more luxury features at an increased price tag. Finally, the ST is the most sporty variation of the Edge with higher top speeds and a more refined look.

Engine

There are two excellent engine options you have to choose from when looking for a 2024 Ford Edge SUV. The standard engine is a Turbocharged 2.0 liter, four-cylinder engine with added EcoBoost. This engine is available on the SE, SEL, and Titanium trims. It gives 250 horsepower, and 280 lb-fts of torque, which is plenty of power to get you on the highway and provide a max tow capacity of 1,500lbs. The ST trim is the only trim package to include an upgraded twin turbo 2.7 liter V6, also with EcoBoost. This robust engine will get you an impressive 335 horsepower and 380 lb-fts of torque. This gives you not only a speed boost, but also an increased max towing capacity of 3,500 lbs.

0-60 MPH Times

The standard 2.0L engine in the Ford Edge will get you a 0-60 mph time of 6.8 seconds. The more powerful 2.7L engine on the ST trim will get you a 0-60 mph time of 5.7 seconds. Although an SUV like the Ford Edge is not expected to have a high top speed or fast 0-60 time, it’s made up for by the spacious interior and increased towing capacity. Ford has chosen to sacrifice maximum speed for a more robust and comfortable utility vehicle.

MPG

Fuel efficiency is getting increasingly important with rising gas prices. Ford has equipped its engines with EcoBoost technology to help increase efficiency by using excess exhaust to generate more power for the engine. The standard 2.0L engine allows you to achieve 21 mpg in the city, and 28 on the highway which combine for 23 mpg. The larger and more powerful 2.7L engine will allow you to achieve a respectable 19 mpg in the city and 25 on the highway. That combines for 21 mpg, which is only 2 mpg lower than the smaller engine. No matter what engine you chose, both provide similarly good fuel economy for the size of this vehicle.

Interior

The 2024 Ford Edge boasts a spacious interior which can comfortably fit five passengers, making it a premium midsize SUV. Not to mention 39.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row, even with 5 passengers in the vehicle. When the second row is folded down, it allows for up to 73.4 cubic feet of cargo space. The seats are made from a comfortable cloth on the SE and SEL trims, while the Titanium features leather seats. The ST features leather seats with suede. You can also look for a power tailgate, heated seats, and wireless charging available on the higher end trims.

Safety Features

The Co-Pilot360 technology is standard on all trims of the 2024 Ford Edge. This state of the art technology gives you a suite of safety features including blind spot detection, a lane keeping system, auto high beams, and many more features. The SEL trim includes a few more available options like adaptive cruise and evasive steering. The Titanium and ST trim trims are where the available features are taken up a notch. This includes Enhanced Active Park Assist System and a 180-degree front camera. No matter which trim option you choose, Ford has chosen to include necessary safety features on every trim, with plenty of extra options to upgrade.

Infotainment Center

State of the art infotainment in the 2024 Ford Edge allows you to take full advantage of your driving experience. Every 2024 Edge is equipped with a SYNC infotainment system that has Apple Carplay and Android Auto integration. The SYNC system is displayed on a massive 12” vertical screen on the dashboard between the driver and passenger seats. The SE trim includes a 6-speaker sound system, while the SEL upgrades with three additional speakers. The Titanium and ST trims boast a 12-speaker, Bang & Olufsen sound system which is guaranteed to impress.
