2025 Ford Mustang Overview

With the Dodge Challenger and Chevrolet Camaro now discontinued, the Ford Mustang truly stands as the last muscle car of its kind. Yet, even without direct competition, Ford took the opportunity to redesign the legendary Mustang for the 2025 model. Offered with either a turbocharged four-cylinder or the classic 5.0-liter V8, the Mustang comes in a wide range of trim levels to appeal to a diverse group of buyers. The 2025 Ford Mustang is highlighted by its performance, top speed, and wide range of trim options.

Performance

The base powertrain of the Mustang features a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine, delivering 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque and paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. While it offers solid performance, the 5.0-liter V8 is the true heart of the Mustang. With 480 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque, it channels power through either the 10-speed automatic or a six-speed manual. MPG

The EPA estimates the four-cylinder Mustang achieves 22 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. Adding the optional Performance Package slightly reduces fuel efficiency, bringing it to 21 mpg city and 29 mpg highway. The previous generation’s V8 Mustang was a fuel guzzler, rated at 15 mpg city and 24 mpg highway with an automatic transmission. The current V8 Mustang with an automatic transmission sees an improvement, with EPA estimates of 16 mpg city and 24 mpg highway. Top Speed

In testing, the Mustang GT with the performance exhaust system accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds, slightly ahead of the 4.5 seconds the EcoBoost could do. The Dark Horse posted a 4.1-second 0 to 60 mph time, just a second quicker than the GT. The Dark Horse also excelled in recent 0-to-150-to-0 speed tests, clocking a time of 29.7 seconds. In general, the 2025 Ford Mustang will have no trouble getting up to speed.

Interior Design

According to sources familiar with the situation, production of the 2025 Mustang at the Flat Rock Assembly plant was set to begin on November 4th, 2024. However, as with any production schedule, this date all depends on various factors. Nonetheless, early November remains a likely time frame for the start of 2025 Mustang production, with the new model year changeover fast approaching.
