Ford is Partnering up with 3M and GE Healthcare in effort to accelerate production of COVID-19 Protective equipment. Together they plan to expand and increase production of ventilators to help meet the high demand during this critical time to those affected, at high risk and to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Ford and 3M are manufacturing Powered Air-Purifying Respirators (PARPs) for first responders and healthcare workers. Ford is utilizing fans from their F-150’s cooled seats for airflow while 3M HEPA air filters are being utilized to filter airborne contaminants. A portable tool battery pack will power these respirators for up to 8 hours.

Ford and GE Healthcare are utilizing both their manufacturing sites to expand production on a simplified version of GE Healthcare’s existing ventilator design. These ventilators are designed to support patients with difficulty breathing due to COVID-19 or respiratory failure.

“Working with 3M and GE, we have empowered our teams of engineers and designers to be scrappy and creative to quickly help scale up production of this vital equipment,” Ford CEO Jim Hackett said in the company’s announcement. “We’ve been in regular dialogue with federal, state and local officials to understand the areas of greatest needs.”

In addition, Ford is also utilizing their in-house 3D printers to produce components used in personal protective equipment. With the cooperation of the United Auto Worker’s Union (UAW), Ford plans on assembling more than 100,000 plastic face shields per week to help medical professionals, factory workers and store clerks.

“This is such a critical time for America and the world. It is time for action and cooperation,” said Bill Ford, executive chairman at Ford Motor Co. “By coming together across multiple industries, we can make a real difference for people in need and for those on the front line of this crisis.”

The Ford Tremor Off-Road Package takes the 2020 F-Series Super Duty to the next level. The Tremor model creates a vehicle that perfectly synthesizes adventure and work. This truck gives a greater towing and payload capacity in comparison with the Ram Power Wagon, and is arguably the most capable off-road Super Duty ever.

Built for versatility, highway driving, and low-speed offroading, the 2020 Super Duty Tremor features a selection of driving modes. This lets drivers choose a driving mode suited to the driving conditions. These settings include a normal mode for driving in town, a mode for towing and hauling, an eco mode for fuel economy, and a slippery mode for icy conditions and deep snow/sand for low-traction conditions.

An all-new mode unique to Tremor is the new rock-crawl mode. In certain modes, including the rock-crawl mode, the front axle will sense when a tire has lost traction and can use the brakes to send power to the wheel with traction.

The Ford Tremor Off-Road Package will be made available later this year when Ford launches the 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty and the 2020 F-350 Super Duty models.

Pickup Truck Emoji

On July 17, 2019, Ford celebrated World Emoji Day with the debut of the pickup truck emoji.

Emojis are used every day in text messages and on social media. Once only used to describe facial expressions, emojis are now used to describe and articulate a variety of activities, foods, animals, symbols and even relationships and values. Emojis are even used now to order food from certain stores and with certain apps!

Last year Ford noticed a disparity in the emojis available on smart devices and smartphones. There was no pickup truck emoji. In response to this issue, Ford sent a proposal to the Unicode Consortium, the organization responsible for reviewing and approving new emojis, and petitioned to add a truck emoji to emoji keyboards everywhere.

In a recent press release, Joe Hinrichs, the president of Ford Motor company, said this proposal was in direct response to customers’ complaints about the lack of a pickup truck emoji. This is just one example of how Ford listens to and responds to their customers’ needs, even if its a simple need like a pickup truck emoji.

Truck and smartphone-lovers everywhere can get excited, because thanks to Ford, you will soon be able to use the pickup truck emoji on your smartphone or tablet. Hopefully, the new pickup truck emoji will be approved by 2020. And who knows? Maybe the day is coming soon when you can order and purchase a Ford pickup truck with the pickup truck emoji.

The new 2019 Ford Bronco will be based on the Ranger, but this test mule vehicle is a modified F-150 Raptor. And it doesn’t seem like Ford intends to release this special short wheelbase F-150. The 2019 Ford Bronco test mule is simultaneously cute and tough. One of the distinguishing characteristics of the original Ford Bronco was the condensed but tall proportions that made it an effective off-road vehicle.

Ford is committed to this new iteration of the Bronco having at least roughly similar proportions. The basic bumpers on the front and year of this Ford bronco test vehicle are a welcome alternative to the expensive and fragile plastic bumper caps that easily get scratched and cracked.

The big takeaway from this mule is the general size and proportions of the new Bronco, and both of these characteristics are spot on. It is not expected that these body panels to remain on the production model, though. Hopefully a unique front end will be designed for the 2019 Ford Bronco, ideally with rounder headlamps. This is a fun mule, but unfortunately this mule is destined to be crushed. Our Ford cars for sale includes the Ford Maverick, Ford Escape, Ford Expedition, Ford Bronco, Ford Transit, Ford Explorer, Ford F-150, Ford Mustang, Ford Ranger, and the Ford F-250. Reach out to our Ford dealership to schedule a test drive today.

Metro Ford of OKC is Blown Away by Ford’s Wind Energy Deal

The world is changing every day. Each day, Metro Ford of OKC wants to make this change easier for you. Let us get you into your perfect car for an unbeatable price.

We know our F-150’s are Oklahoma’s favorites, but they’re about to get better!

white truck in wind energy field

Your favorite trucks in 2020 will be made with wind energy. The Dearborn Truck Plant and the Michigan Assembly Plant are aiming to be 100 percent powered by renewable energy by January of 2021. Saving the planet first and building America’s best trucks second.

In January, Ford Motor Company announced an all-electric F-series pickup truck. The F-150 and Raptor trucks are assembled in the Dearborn Truck Plant, while the new 2020 Ford Ranger is built at the Michigan Assembly Plant. Thanks to Ford’s partnership with DTE Energy, Ford is fulfilling it’s promise to go green.

Ford has been one of the pioneers in the space of using alternate sources of energy. As early as 2010, Ford announced that they would reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions produced by their vehicle manufacturing 30% per vehicle by 2025. This is ambitious and inspiring, all the more reason to come see us at Metro Ford of OKC and get into the trucks of the future!

500,000-megawatt hours of wind energy is what it will cost to build the 2020 Raptor and Ranger. The number is big, but the smile on your face will be bigger knowing you are behind the wheel of a truck that will help save the planet!

Perhaps a truck isn’t what you are after. At Metro Ford of OKC, we have a vast selection of new and certified pre-owned cars and SUVs. We know one size doesn’t fit all. We encourage you to come and find your perfect fit with us!

All-Electric Ford Announcement from Metro Ford of OKC

Red Electric Truck

Ford Motor Company has announced the launch of an all-electric version of a beloved F-series pickup truck. The announcement was made by Ford CEO Jim Hackett at the Deutsche Bank Global Auto Industry Conference on January 16, 2019.

Ford currently has three eco-friendly models with the 2018 Fusion Hybrid starting at $26,100 with 41 HWY MPG, the 2018 Fusion Energi starting at $31,120 with 91 HWY MPG, and the 2018 Focus Electric starting at $29,120 with 96 HWY MPG. The plug-in hybrid vehicles use a 240-volt outlet to recharge in under 3 hours.

If these three efficient Ford models are any sign, Metro Ford of OKC is sure we’ll be amazed by an all-electric Ford truck! We know that Ford is considering partnering with Volkswagen to produce electric vehicles in the near future and that a Mustang-inspired electric vehicle could predate the F-series pickup. There is no news yet about which F-series model will be graced with electric capabilities, but we’re hoping for the F-150 of course!

Ford’s all-electric truck will compete with Rivian’s R1T unveiled in November, 2018 and Tesla’s futuristic pickup truck still in the planning phase. Along with an all-electric F-series, Ford is also planning for a hybrid F-150!

Our Mission to Serve Oklahoma City

This holiday season, Metro Ford of OKC partnered with the City Rescue Mission to bring warm winter coats and Christmas toys to the homeless men, women, and children of Oklahoma City!

Our dealership showroom filled up nicely from Monday, November 19th to Wednesday, December 19th with donations from our sales team, Finance Department, and Service and Parts technicians! The Target at 5400 N May Ave in Oklahoma City graciously donated $50 worth of children’s coats for our partnership with the City Rescue Mission.

We were also lucky to receive donations from our loyal customers in the OKC metro. It was a great surprise when Legacy Cleaners, a local Oklahoma City dry cleaner and laundromat, donated a huge batch of coats on the last day of December 19th!

Members from our team were able to deliver the coats right after Christmas on Friday, December 27th just in time for the new year and 2019 winter weather! The staff and members of the City Rescue Mission welcomed our donations and we were beyond excited to help the homeless men, women, and children living at the shelter pick out their favorite coats and toys.

City Rescue Mission has been operating in Oklahoma City and beyond as a faith-based ministry for almost 60 years. The facilities host Bible study groups, on-site GED courses, job placement services, and more in order to help homeless individuals and families move past trying times.

Volunteers are welcome at the City Rescue Mission facilities from all OKC metro locations including Oklahoma City, Moore, Norman, Edmond, Yukon, Midwest City, Del City, Bethany or Mustang. You could volunteer by donating money, preparing or serving food at mealtime in either the Women or Men’s centers, or even assist with education and work in the gardens.

Metro Ford of OKC is excited to further our partnership with Oklahoma City’s City Rescue Mission in 2019. We wish all of our staff and customers a happy new year!

City Rescue Mission is a faith-based ministry serving Oklahoma City and beyond. The ministry has been operating for almost 60 years as a temporary place to stay with programs and service to help people out of a bad situation.

Men, women, and children live at the City Rescue Mission facilities taking classes daily, joining Bible study groups, and gaining access to more than 70 local agencies offering care free of charge. The care includes medical, dental, vision, Veteran’s benefits, on-site GED courses, and job placement services.

Over the years, City Rescue Mission has developed the Bridge to Life recovery program including counseling, job training, educational opportunities, and more. The program is offered for men and women 18 and older with addiction or other lifestyle issues that may hold them back from sustaining housing, an education, or employment. The recovery period is a 10 to 12 month residential program that has led to a 70% success rate.

Metro Ford of OKC is so excited to have this opportunity to give back to the Oklahoma City metro community. Our staff and any local, loyal customer has the opportunity to join in this holiday season by donating warm coats, and children’s toys at Metro Ford of OKC.

If you would like to volunteer for the City Rescue Mission from Oklahoma City, Edmond, Moore, Midwest City, Del City, Mustang, or Bethany there are so many opportunities. You could also aid in repairments around the facilities, clean, assist with education, or work in the gardens.
